"prefer...to" or "prefer...than" Which is the preferred or correct answer?

Dear 6G cyberians,

It was quite a debate in class today as many of us are caught between the choice of using "to" or "than" after the word "prefer".

I've posted the answer under 'Writing it Right" section of the blog.

It feels so great to be online once again.

I apologise for the silence for the last two days.

It was due to a migration exercise of my old internet provider to a wireless optic service.
